In the first conversation he is entrenched in a book about religion and will inquire about your species&#039; religions.&lt;br /&gt;

However, after [[Windego]] casts [[Source Blast]], he is revealed to be a [[undead eternal]] disguised in the third floor of [[The Merryweather]]. A dialogue with him reveals that Windego had stolen the mask he was using in order to take that form.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Fane can be found again after the shipwreck in a small alcove off of [[Fort Joy]]&#039;s entrance at {{Coords|247|255}}. He is found in [[The Hidden Alcove]] inspecting a dead human body, attempting to obtain it&#039;s face. He had followed [[Wendigo]] to Fort Joy. He notes that we are located in [[Reaper&#039;s Coast]]. You are able to convince him to join your party after some dialogue.&lt;br /&gt;

Having him in your party allows you to build up your relationship with him.&lt;br /&gt;

It requires a strength of 12 to pry out the spear, and in doing so results in a [[spear of Braccus Rex]] or it can be attacked with 60 hp. You learn that Braccus Rex has trapped him here.&lt;br /&gt;

He tells you you can help him find his soul. In return, the player character learns of a way to get out of Fort Joy. You must head to the fortress and a switch on a statue of [[The Secret Seven]] will open a hatch. A container with his soul will be within [[Braccus&#039; Phylactory Room]] and search for a hidden switch. This initiates [[The Path of the Soul]] method of leaving Fort Joy. &lt;div&gt;The Playable Character&#039;s first quest after leaving the tutorial area of [[The Merryweather]], it is initiated by talking to the Magister you see when you first wake up. After exploring the 2nd deck, go into the furthest door to the leftside of the ship and you encounter [[Windego]] and a group of Magisters. After a brief conflict you are directed to go up the stairs to your right and continue the quest to leave the ship--although everyone in the ship is either dead or unconcious.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Entering the eastmost room you will encounter Magisters Rick and Murtof. On a failed check, you will enter combat. Further into the west section of the third deck towards the right across the fire, there will be Magister Priest Medwyn. She will have a skull marked key, that will unlock the storage holding [[Deathfog Barrels]] in the middle of the deck. Further down that path you will encounter an [[undead eternal]] sitting in a small room. A talk with him will reveal that he is [[Fane]]. After opening the Deathfog container room, tentacles will appear and break the death fog barrels.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
After heaing up to the deck level you will be thrown into a fight with two [[vicious voidlings]]. After finishing the combat, heading up to the wheel and investigating the captain&#039;s body will reveal a [[scroll of blinding radiance]]. Head to the life boat on the northern side of ship and talk to the dwarf and child. Either listen to the child and check on survivors or listen to the dwarf and leave. If you decide to look for survivors, you will be thrown into an encounter with [[void hatchlings]] with the other named npc&#039;s who survived aiding you. After heading back up to the lifeboat you will be knocked out and a cutscene ensues. You hear a message from High Judge Orivand in this cutscene. This is the end to the quest.&lt;/div&gt;</summary>
