Ricks is on the middle deck cowering next to Murtof. The pair have locked themselves in a room, convinced that a Sourcerer mutiny is underway. To gain entry, the door must be physically destroyed. If failing to persuade them to lay down arms, both Ricks and Murtof become hostile.

Based on Unsent Letter, Ricks is morally conflicted about the Magisters' actions, but he was encouraged by his partner Stephyn to continue following orders.
