Walkthrough

Finding Emmie is initiated by talking to Buddy using Pet Pal. Buddy asks the player character to find his friend Emmie, a source hound in the main Magister building in Fort Joy. If you are nice to him, he will dig up Buddy's Key, which unlocks the door to the source hound room where Emmie is found. Upon entering, the dogs are hostile in dialogue, but mentioning Buddy to Emmie will pacify them, granting 2200 XP.

Note: The Shiny Red Ball from the Houndmaster in the Holding Cells may also pacify them, but as long as you have talked to Buddy, Emmie is the easiest way to pacify them.

Otherwise, the hounds initiate combat, granting 125 XP per hound killed for a total of 500 XP. For maximum XP, choosing a passive option and killing the hounds afterward grant a total of 2700 XP.
