Death Belowdecks is a quest in the Prologue of Divinity: Original Sin II. It is part of the chronicle The Merryweather.

Objectives

Find the murderer.
A Sourcerer lies murdered. The Magisters will pay for a lead on the killer. If Waters is killed: Magister Waters is dead. The Sourcerer's murderer is still at large.

Tell the Magisters who killed the Sourcerer.
The victim was attacked by an old woman.

Find the old woman who killed the Sourcerer.
An 'old woman' isn't enough information. The Magisters need more.

Quest complete.
A woman named Windego confessed to the murder, implied that we would have been next, then triggered an explosion and fled.

Walkthrough

After awakening on the Merryweather, this quest is initiated by speaking to Magister Waters on the lower deck of the ship. Water is in a room guarded by Cadoc and Marel, investigating the remains of a Sourcerer's corpse.

Elves can Sneak behind Waters to retrieve a piece of Finn's corpse. Upon consuming, the skill Adrenaline is learned, and Finn's memories reveal an old woman approaching him. This information can be relayed to Waters.

Otherwise, the player character can speak with Payde to access the stern room. Inside, several Magisters interrogate Windego, who confesses to murdering Finn before killing the nearby Reds and knocking the player character unconscious.
